How We Started
SMI-Labhut was formed in 1994 as Science Marketing International Ltd, with the aim of helping scientific instrument companies based in the USA to enter the complex European market. Today, as SMI-LabHut Ltd, we provide this service for companies based both in the USA and European countries and market through over 200 distributors in more than 60 countries in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
What We Do
SMI-LabHut is a product management company. We partner with small to medium sized companies and manage their International sales and marketing for them. By sharing the travel costs and representing more than one product line, our cost of sale is substantially less than it would be for any single product line and is therefore cost-effective.
Unlike 'consultants' we actually manage the product lines at a technical level, offering training for distributors as well as first line technical and sales support. This relieves the manufacturer of the responsibility of contact with each and every distributor on a day-to-day basis.
We only accept products that are complementary, never competitive, and with which we feel that we can do an effective job. Complementary products are important because they can be sold by a similar distributor base which improves our effectiveness.
Our extensive database contains details of hundreds of chromatography and related distribution companies world-wide. This helps us to quickly identify potential distribution partners in specific countries for individual product lines.
This unique service forms the basis of our Product Management division which has been our winning formula. With our experienced personnel, we can manage an entire distribution program and distributor network at a fraction of the cost of 'going direct'.

During the past nine years SMI has established a substantial Chromatography consumables and accessories business. Sold in the UK through our own direct sales division, SMI-Labhut Direct, the LabHut product line is also available through a substantial distributor network.
SMI-LabHut Distribution is geared to International Distributor sales and currently supplies distributors in over 60 countries.
Both SMI-LabHut Direct and SMI-LabHut Distribution are supported and promoted via our LabHut website. The TabletDissolution.com site promotes the dissolution products to a different network of distributors. This allows dealers and end-users alike to access the product and pricing information and also allows dealers to promote the LabHut or TabletDissolution products and obtain full credit for sales generated from their efforts.
